Dwyer Strunks has been an Assets Officer with Apex for almost five years, working from Head Office in Derry~Londonderry. We sat down with Dwyer to find out more about his role, what Apex is like as an employer and how he spends his spare time outside of work.

Describe what your job involves
I work in the Planned and Cyclical Maintenance team, so I help plan and deliver upgrades to Apex homes, for example kitchen and bathroom replacements, smoke detector replacements, boiler replacements and cyclical painting. When this work is being carried out, I’m also there to respond to any queries from tenants.
What do you like most about your job?
It’s fun, enjoyable and no day is ever the same.

Probably the best.
What advice would you give someone starting out in your career area?
Study hard and work even harder.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Listen to music, read, walk the dog and spend time with friends and family.
What did you want to be when growing up?
I wanted to be a US soldier, long distance lorry driver and even a firefighter!
What is the first concert you attended?
Feile 1992 – The Trip to Tipp. It was Ireland’s first music festival and what an experience!
What is your favourite film?
‘The Longest Day’ as I’m a WW2 nerd and I got the chance to visit all five beaches and battlefields that you see in the film.

Do it right or do it twice.
