Celebrating 30 years of Daleview House

by

Daleview House in Derry~Londonderry has celebrated 30 years since it opened its doors. To mark the occasion, staff, tenants and families came together for a celebration event last week with live music, refreshments and dancing!

Situated in the Waterside area of the city, the scheme currently offers both Housing with Care and nursing care for older people; and is owned and managed by Apex Housing Association (Apex).

Teresa Hegarty, a Housing with Care tenant, explained why she enjoys living at Daleview House:

It’s assisted living, and that’s a very good term because that’s exactly what it is. We live separately, yet we’re supported and it’s a very friendly atmosphere. We’re free to come and go as we please, which means you can still keep in touch with and meet up with friends you had before moving. I’m very content and happy here. It’s bright and cosy, the carers are wonderful and it gives my family reassurance that I’m safe 24 hours a day. It’s very much a home from home for me.”

Marcella McCorkell, Manager of Daleview House, commented:

I want to say a big thank you to the team for all the work that goes into Daleview House. We have provided a lot of care and support to our tenants and it’s been a bit of a journey from 30 years ago. It’s a privilege to be here today to support everyone and to celebrate such a great occasion.
