Apex Community Supermarket
Apex Community Supermarket is a social supermarket providing support for local families experiencing food poverty. Our mission is to deal with the causes and consequences of food poverty whilst promoting the concepts of dignity and empowerment.
We are a membership scheme whereby for £5 a week, members have access to a range of fresh, frozen, dried and tinned foods. We also offer a bespoke service for those who join, working in partnership with local organisations, with the aim of improving the financial, social and emotional wellbeing of our membership.
Who can apply for membership?
To apply for membership you must:
- at risk of or currently experiencing food poverty
- live in County Derry~Londonderry area
- have a low disposable income
- be willing to develop a success plan
Important: You don’t have to be an Apex tenant to become a member of the Community Supermarket.
What support is available?
For £5 a week, you will receive around £25 worth of groceries and support tailored to your individual needs, such as:
- Benefits advice
- Budgeting
- Confidence building
- Cooking classes
- Debt management
- Education and training
- Employability skills
- Energy guidance
- Gardening club
- Managing stress
- Parenting skills
- Savings scheme
- Volunteering
