The Big Thank You

At the end of May, Apex hosted an event to celebrate and thank its ‘Active Tenants’ as the grand finale to its Tenant Participation Month. ‘The Big Thank You’ celebration event took place in Holywell Trust in Derry~Londonderry and saw tenants from across Northern Ireland in attendance.

The event allowed tenants from Derry~Londonderry, Enniskillen, Belfast and Newtownards to get together in person for the first time since 2019 to celebrate each other’s successes, listen to updates from the tenant participation team and enjoy a sit-down lunch together.

The event also featured a presentation from Nicola Mullan from Greater Shantallow Area Partnership (GSAP) about the fantastic work being done from Skeoge Community Hub in Derry~Londonderry.

Aoibhinn McCrea, Senior Communities Officer, commented:

It was very special to be able to get together in person and celebrate the work of our active tenants in their communities over the last year. Those in attendance heard about the work of tenants in the North West and Belfast to build thriving tenants’ associations and take part in other activities to help improve their neighbourhoods. Just a few examples of how tenant participation can change communities and lives.

We were thrilled to show our appreciation to tenants and update them on our upcoming activities, including our Tenant Panel and Service Reviews. We cannot wait to see what the next year brings.

Speaking at the event, Donna Matthewson, Director of Housing, said:

Today is about celebrating all the hard work our tenants do and I hope you feel valued and appreciated. On behalf of Apex, I want to express our sincere thanks to everyone here who has given up their time to help improve our services in the past year. This in turn will help make our communities welcoming and thriving places to live in and improve our tenants lives after a difficult few years in terms of service delivery and the current cost of living challenges.
