Everyone enjoying the pumpkin carving.Pumpkin Carving at Ballynafoy Close

Apex’s housing scheme at Ballynafoy Close, Ravenhill Road, Belfast is the first completed Together: Building United Communities (TBUC) development in Northern Ireland.
Apex in partnership with Alternatives NI and some local artists delivered a very successful arts programme over the summer. When we asked the young people involved in the project what events they would like to see happen in their community, they suggested pumpkin carving.
Apex organised a night of pumpkin carving, crafts and fun for the greater Ravenhill community as a ‘Bridging and Bonding’ event as part of our TBUC Good Relations Plan. There was a great turn out with a good mix of Apex tenants and residents from other housing areas.
The young people enjoyed scooping out their pumpkins, making masks and letting off some steam on the bouncy castle! There were a lot of scary characters floating around too!
We greatly value feedback from our tenants and at one of our regular coffee mornings a parent asked if we could make sure that there were activities for younger children at our events. We took that on board and provided a craft activity where the smaller children could make Halloween masks.
We are already thinking about Christmas and invite all tenants from Ballynafoy Close to come along to our next coffee morning on the 17th November to bring their ideas and suggestions!
