New £2.2m social housing scheme at Hass Road, Dungiven

The new development will provide 19 new family houses and apartments, including two specially adapted homes for wheelchair users. The scheme is being built on former Housing Executive land adjacent to Ard na Smoll estate with construction work being carried out by the Kevin Watson Group The development is scheduled for completion in October 2016.
Minister Storey said:
This is a significant and very welcome addition to social housing in this rural area. As communities living in small towns and villages continue to grow there is an increased demand for more homes to ensure a first rate and sustainable way of life. These new homes are being built to an exceptionally high standard and will include solar roof panels to help reduce energy costs.
This latest development is part of my strategic approach, in partnership with other agencies, to help build a stronger and more vibrant countryside where people are better able to live and work.”
The Minister continued:
My thanks go to Apex for providing these new homes and the Housing Executive for contributing the surplus site. I look forward to seeing the houses completed and inhabited by new tenants late next year.”
Martin Doherty, Chairman of Apex said:
Apex is delighted to have started construction on the second phase of our development at Hass Road, Dungiven. This is a £2.2million investment in 19 new build family homes by the Department for Social Development and Apex. This will provide much needed housing for families who may be living in difficult circumstances and create much needed employment opportunities for the hard-pressed construction sector in Northern Ireland.”
