Help with School Meals and Uniform Grants

Over the past few weeks Apex tenants would have started to receive notification of what school their child will be attending in September.
This excitement can also bring worry and stress due to the cost of providing new school uniform and school meals throughout the year. In the last two years, Apex Financial Inclusion Officer, Michael Lyttle, has helped tenants obtain a grant for the first time as they previously did not know they were entitled to help.
A lot of tenants who work part time did not know that they were entitled to this help until Michael had made contact with them.
If you are in receipt of one of the following you are entitled to the grant:
• Income Support
• Income based JSA
• Income related ESA
• The guarantee element of state pension credit
• Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit with an annual taxable income of £16,190 or less
The clothing allowance applies for children in primary, post primary and special schools and the level of support is as follows:
• primary school – £35.75
• post-primary/special school under 15 – £51
• post-primary/special school over 15 – £56
• post-primary/special school PE – £22
