The winning garden in the Special Achievement category - John DohertyGardening Competition Results – Special Achievement

We were very pleased to have the Head Gardener from Queen’s University Belfast, Paul Wallace, judging the competition for us this year. Paul was very impressed with the standard of the gardens and commented that it wasn’t an easy decision to pick winners!
We will be announcing the winner and highly commended for a different category each day this week.
We had a great response to our Gardening Competition with over 20 entries to the four categories – Special Achievement, Most Original Feature, Best Hanging Basket and Best Overall Kept Garden.

Today we are announcing the Special Achievement award;
The winner is John Doherty, Derry~Londonderry,
The runner up is Eddie Kennedy, Derry~Londonderry.
Highly commended certificates are awarded to the residents involved with the gardens and Woodvale House and Dunvale House.

On Friday we will feature pictures of some of the lovely gardens that took part in this year’s competition. Everyone who entered the competition has received a packet of seeds, kindly donated by Homebase in Derry~Londonderry.
No doubt our competition entrants will continue to use their green fingers and hopefully their efforts will inspire others to take up this (believe it or not!) therapeutic exercise.
