Fun day at Iona Houses to mark Learning Disability Week

Last week, Iona Houses in Strabane hosted a Family Fun Day to mark Learning Disability Week. The event, which was attended by staff, tenants and their family and friends, was a real celebration of the supported living facility and those connected to it – a fantastic day of fun, with the sunshine only adding to the party atmosphere.
A mobile zoo, bouncy castle and a visit from the ice cream man all went down a treat with tenants and their guests; and live music by the Kerrigan’s was also enjoyed by all.
Marie Casey, Manager of Iona Houses, commented:
It was a pleasure to have so many supporters of Iona Houses at our fun day during Learning Disability Week. On a day-to-day basis we provide essential accommodation, support and care for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities. Through this fun day we were able to recognise our staff and celebrate our tenants and it was an absolute delight to do so.
It was great to see everyone enjoying the day, singing and dancing to the live music and there were some very brave tenants and visitors handling snakes, spiders and other animals from the mobile zoo. I want to thank the staff of Iona Houses for their hard work in organising the day and for providing the tea, coffee and refreshments for all our guests.
Iona Houses in Strabane offers accommodation, support and care for 12 adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities over 18 years of age. It is owned and managed by Apex Housing Association and is funded by Supporting People and the Western Health and Social Care Trust.
