Christmas comes to Ballynafoy Close

Earlier this week, the tenants of Ballynafoy Close in Belfast enjoyed a Christmas street party to celebrate the beginning of the festive period. The bonding event allowed neighbours in the shared housing development to come together and build relationships, and finished off a very successful year of good relations activities and events.
During the street party, local kids enjoyed a disco and a variety of group activities led by Santa Claus and his friends; whilst the grown-ups relaxed with neighbours over a hot drink from the coffee cart.
Sharon Hunt, Apex Good Relations Officer, commented:
The tenants of Ballynafoy Close were over the moon with the Christmas event. They enjoyed the hot drinks and Christmas goodies and the children were so excited when Santa and the other characters arrived. Each tenant received a Christmas present and a cultural arts and crafts box to keep them occupied over the Christmas holidays; and all the children received a children’s diversity book and selection box from Santa.
I’m very much looking forward to 2022 and continuing the successful good relations work with the tenants of Ballnafoy Close.
The Ballynafoy Christmas street party was supported by the Department for Communities and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive’s ‘Housing for All’ Shared Housing Programme. The Programme has its origins in the NI Executive Together: Building a United Community (T:BUC) Strategy which reflects the Executive’s commitment to improving community relations and continuing the journey towards a more united and shared society.
