Apex welcomes Liam Hannaway as new Chairperson
Apex has announced the appointment of Liam Hannaway as its new Chairperson, succeeding Peter Caldwell who has stepped down after years of dedicated service.
Liam brings to the role a wealth of experience in the public sector and community development, including senior roles in the Housing Executive, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and local government. He retired in 2019 as Chief Executive of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and has been a committed community activist throughout his career.
After many years of service, Peter Caldwell has stepped down from the Board of Apex. Peter served on many board committees and held several officer positions during his time on the board – serving as Chairperson since March 2021.
Sheena McCallion, Chief Executive of Apex, commented:
We are delighted to welcome Liam to the role of Chairperson and know that his knowledge, skills and experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow and respond to the evolving needs of our tenants, residents and communities. Liam’s deep understanding of housing and local government, combined with his commitment to community development, make him the perfect leader to build on Apex’s strong foundations and shape its future with vision.
I’d also like to pay tribute to Peter Caldwell for his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to Apex over many years. Peter has played a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the organisation, always bringing wisdom, integrity and a deep understanding of our mission. His contribution across various committees and his steady guidance as Chairperson have left a lasting legacy, and we are deeply grateful for his service.
