Burren Meadows residents and council staff with the new plantersApex Tenants Involved in Gardening Project in Newcastle

Apex tenants from Burren Meadows along with other residents and young people from the Castlewellan Road area, Newcastle have been working together on an intergenerational project to provide a number of the estates here with very colourful planters this summer.
Burren Meadow itself has been greatly enhanced with the addition of these eye catching planters
The project which is being managed by the Ark Community Gardens in Newcastle has kept the older residents busy painting and preparing the barrels while the young people have picked and planted the flowers. The Programme is part an environmental scheme being funded by the Newry Mourne & Down Policing & Community Safety Partnership.

The Burren Meadow community along with local young people are hoping to follow this successful project with a community litter pick in the coming weeks.
