Apex is delighted to announce the opening of Jake’s Play Park in the Racecourse Park/Drive area of Derry~Londonderry
As one of the largest social housing providers in Northern Ireland, Apex goes beyond providing bricks and mortar and continues to invest in peoples’ lives and in the youth of our communities.
The play park has been named in memory of Jake Murphy who sadly passed away on July 7, 2013.
Jake was playing at a building site near his Shantallow home in Derry in July 2013 when he collapsed and died. The 11 year old had a pre-existing heart condition.
Mrs Murphy said that whilst the pain of losing Jake doesn’t get any easier, the gesture by Apex will keep her son’s memory alive.
The park provides a place where the local children can play safely.
“It was a very nice gesture by Apex,” she said “It’s lovely what they are doing and we really appreciate that.”
Apex would like to extent our sympathy to Mr and Mrs Murphy and thank them for allowing us to name the park in their son’s memory.
“We trust this is a fitting tribute in his memory.”
