Apex invests £2 million in warm homes
Homes in Cornshell Fields and Cornshell Lane in Derry ~ Londonderry are being provided with replacement heating and gas conversions over the next year. The project, which started in October 2019, will see new heating systems installed in 280 homes by our appointed contractor H&A Mechanical Services Ltd.
Tenants opting for gas conversion will enjoy reduced heating costs with the installation of new high-efficiency natural gas combi-boilers, providing instant heat and hot water. Old oil tanks and existing hot water cylinders will be removed, providing additional space both internally and externally.
Tenants wishing to retain oil heating will have a new high-efficiency oil boiler installed along with a new upgraded double skin oil tank, providing tenants with a more efficient heating source.
With some homes already completed, tenants have been extremely positive, commenting on how “warm and cosy” their homes have become. Tenants have also expressed their delight that most of the internal work is completed in one day with a further day being required for minor external adjustments in gardens and footpaths.
Apex is also investing a further £1m to deliver another large replacement boiler and gas conversion scheme in early 2020. This will deliver gas conversions and oil boiler upgrades to a further 260 homes in Derry~Londonderry, Strabane, Claudy, Ballykelly and Enniskillen.
