Active Tenants taking part in discussions with our Community Involvement CoordinatorActive Tenant Network

Following the successful first Active Tenant Network event, Active Tenants came together again to discuss various issues and receive training
On 27th July Apex held a second Active Tenants’ Network event at its head office in Derry / Londonderry for tenants from across Northern Ireland to come together, receive training and share ideas and best practice with other like-minded tenants and housing staff.
Following on from the progress made at the first event the group reviewed the leaflets that Apex issues to new tenants, to ensure they are clear and concise.
Apex’s Financial Inclusion Officer, Michael Lyttle spoke to the group about Welfare Reform explaining how the proposed changes may affect benefit entitlement. Active Tenants were then asked to share this information with their neighbours and local community
After lunch the group discussed the make-up of future events, which will include visiting supported living schemes, additional training opportunities and social events
Apex will be running Active Tenant Network events on a regular basis to update the members on the progress that has been made, support them in the work they are doing in their communities and to show appreciation of their efforts. This partnership working will help to ensure Apex communities are vibrant and caring places to live in.
