1,000 days of running to support those with learning disabilities

Seamus Crossan, manager of Belmont Cottages in Derry~Londonderry, is nearing the finish line of an epic challenge to raise funds for the local supported living scheme by running for a minimum of 5K every day for 1,000 days straight.
Having started his running challenge at the beginning of 2019, Seamus has announced his plans for a grand finale – running 100 miles over two days at the end of September. By then he hopes to have raised £10,000 to purchase a wheelchair accessible vehicle for the adults with learning disabilities and complex needs who live in Belmont Cottages.
Commenting on the challenge, Seamus Crossan said:
The last year has been extremely difficult and challenging for the residents of Belmont Cottages due to the COVID restrictions. If we raise enough money for a wheelchair accessible people carrier, it will give them more freedom to get out and about without having to rely on others.
I want my challenge to mean something when I eventually reach the 1,000th day. My hope is that it will help support those we work with as they face daily challenges outside of their control and lead to more fulfilling lives ahead.
