The essential group selfie!Tenants complete Make up Course with Ciara Daly
Apex’s housing scheme at Ballynafoy Close, Ravenhill Road, Belfast is the first Together: Building United Communities (T:BUC) development in Northern Ireland. As part of our Good Relations Plan we partnered with Radius Housing to deliver a free 6 week makeup course with local makeup artist Ciara Daly.
Tenant Involvement
Our tenants had identified makeup skills as an area of interest as it had the potential to create employment opportunities while addressing improved mental health and self-esteem.
Twelve ladies travelled to Ciara Daly’s makeup studio every Wednesday for six weeks were they were taught new skills while getting to know their neighbours from the local area. Each week they focused on a specific skill which they then practised on themselves and each other. Each person who completed the course received a certificate and a set of the highly sought after Ciara Daly makeup brushes.
On the final morning of the course the ladies completed their own makeup using the skills they had learnt, and made use of the professional lighting in the studio to take some photos as well as the essential selfies!
Everyone greatly enjoyed the experience and they now hope to continue improving their makeup skills.
Apex has recently completed a community survey at Ballynafoy Close and its findings will enable us to continue to deliver the range of services and activities that our tenants would like to see.
