Apex tenants and their families enjoy a night of fun.Summer Fun at Ballynafoy Close

Apex organised a series of community events during the summer months at Ballynafoy Close, Ravenhill Road, Belfast, the first Together: Building United Communities (T:BUC) development in Northern Ireland, to promote its Good Relations Plan.
This began with a community clean up in June to make sure the housing scheme was looking its best! The young people really enjoyed getting to use the litter pickers and got quite competitive with who could pick up the most rubbish! Parents and other tenants also took the opportunity to tidy up their gardens. Everyone who took part enjoyed an ice cream in the sunshine at the end of the afternoon
Following the success of involving Alternatives last summer they were invited back this year. The young people had a great time learning about inclusion and diversity through a range of activities including art, dance and cookery. The week finished with a trip to We Are Vertigo where the young people could let their hair down and bounce around!

We ended the summer series with a community fun night. Unfortunately due to the bad weather we had to move everything indoors but that didn’t stop everyone having a good time! The young people enjoyed the different activities while their parents relaxed with a cup of tea. We invited everyone to create a unique tile made from clay which will become part of a new mosaic to be displayed in the estate. The young people who were involved in the summer scheme worked with Red Earth Designs to create the design. The mosaic will hopefully be installed in the next few weeks.
In line with our vision is for every person to enjoy great quality homes, in vibrant and caring communities we have a number of exciting projects and activities coming up in the coming months at Ballynafoy Close and in some of our other housing schemes. We will continue to promote community involvement by supporting and empowering tenants to make a difference in their community.
