One of the most popular and successful programmes in the Strand Foyer is Cook It which enables young people to learn cooking and budgeting skills. This has been running for the past 10 years
The Foyer opened in June 1999 and is a purpose built complex close to the centre of Derry/Londonderry. The Foyer has 48 self-contained flats and offers accommodation with support to homeless young people between the ages of 18 and 25. The Foyer service is holistic in its approach, offering integrated access to affordable accommodation, training, guidance, personal development and job searching facilities.
Strand Foyer offers a wide range of services to its users, both in-house and in partnership with external providers. External training and education is organised by staff on behalf of the residents and this is complemented by a range of in-house services including IT support, essential skills training, personal development and drug and alcohol awareness. Residents are also offered advice and support with budgeting, shopping and cooking.
