Parkview House, Housing with Care for older people

Parkview House opened in July 1998 and is centrally situated in Castlederg, Co Tyrone and adjacent to the River Derg. It has pleasing views of the surrounding countryside. The accommodation provides a range of supported accommodation to meet the needs of older people in Castlederg and surrounding areas. It is conveniently located to GP and Day Care services.

The complex consists of 20 en-suite rooms for Housing with Care tenants. There are also 15 registered Nursing Care beds and 10 Bungalows for independent housing for older people with emergency support on the site.

Tenants at Parkview House are encouraged to maintain their independence and to make choices in the decisions that affect their lives. Where appropriate, a referral may be made to the Trust for an additional care package to help maintain the tenant in the scheme.

All tenants have their own tastefully decorated private rooms with en-suite facilities and are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own special items of furniture, ornaments and pictures to enhance the warm, friendly and homely atmosphere.

Individual, person centred care and support plans are compiled for each tenant and reviewed on a regular basis. Varied and nutritious meal menus are planned with the tenants with the emphasis on good quality food and home cooking. Tenants with special dietary requirements are also catered for to ensure individual needs are met.

There is a varied monthly activity plan to ensure a diverse range of activities are provided to cater for individual tenants needs. Examples include hairdresser, bus trips, pamper days, coffee mornings reminiscence and music. Tenants are encouraged to take part in activities and also social interaction is encouraged within the unit and within the wider community.

If you are currently a tenant of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive or any housing association, you must send the completed form to them.

What will happen next?

Your housing association landlord or the Northern Ireland Housing Executive will carry out an assessment and points will be awarded on the basis of your current circumstances and needs.

Having met the eligibility criteria, you will then be placed on the waiting list for accommodation. The manager of Parkview House will then visit you in your home to access your needs.
